It can’t be a mystery that promotion is a necessary part of a writer’s quest for publication. This Blog, where I have a lot of fun with images and sharing my experiences, is unapologetically also a promotional tool. The blog is only successful if it is engaging and informative enough to attract and hold readers. I keep most posts short and image-rich to grab the user and not have them overwhelmed with details of my explorations. As much as I am prone to go on about the hours spent looking for a particular document, I’m sure the reader doesn’t need the same aggravation. I have provided links to my sources and there is always the contact page if anyone needs to find out more.
Podcasts are touted as useful additions to the promotional toolbox. I subscribe to some, and I listen while driving or doing chores. My son has done a few, and they were a fun way to hear his voice whenever I wanted. I have listened to ones on writing, history, and beekeeping, and enjoyed getting information via human discussion, a reminder of the radio shows of my boyhood.
For me, a Podcast might be fun. I have the equipment and means to do it (almost everyone does), it might lead to information I was unaware of. If I went the interview route, I could introduce the listeners and myself to people involved in the preservation of the history we love. What do you think?
